One last thing, it does weigh a bit, so if you have to carry it up stairs, make sure you are able to handle the weight. I've never had a dyson or other high priced models, so I can't compare between them and this one however, I can tell you that short of buying a carpet shampoo vacuum, my carpets won't be any cleaner with a different, more high priced brand. I am very impressed with this newer, purple model. They replaced it for me! I was allowed to buy a new warranty with this unit as well. I thought they'd send it in and I'd get it back good as new. The suction was almost gone (was that way when I got it), it was tough to get the foot release button to work, and the part that the cord wraps around was loose. It had some minor issues, so I took it in to Best Buy to get it fixed (had a 4 year warranty on it). When cleaning the carpet, it pulls itself along due to the strength of the suction.
